Together We Can, Inc.

We are excited that on February 8, 2010, this organization was granted Nonprofit 501(c) 3 Status by the Internal Revenue Service. This status will enable individuals to serve others with efficiency and passion. Information about forming this organization and what we promote and intend to do is explained here. After reading this, please feel free to contact us and become part of what we are doing.

The organization is all volunteers with no paid staff. All donations are directed to projects in communities and will be used to promote what the community defines as areas of needs. We will build relationships with the people and integrate their leadership with our support to accomplish what they decide they need.

STATEMENT OF INTENT
Together We Can seeks out individuals and groups committed to significant and meaningful changes in their communities, locally and internationally.  By directing and coordinating existing resources, we intend to complement and work with existing programs and foster new projects as needed.

TOGETHER WE CAN SERVES WOMEN AND MEN
OF ANY FAITH AND NO FAITH.

Before the recent earthquake, Philip had organized a medical team to go to Haiti on March 20. The team is still going and appears now to have even more doctors and nurses interested in helping. This trip was being funded by the individual doctors and nurses going to provide the care. Now the needs are much greater. If you would like to help this team purchase medical supplies and anything else needed, you can send checks made out to Together We Can, Inc., 2014 Cameron Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.

Together We Can, Inc Background.
Working in devloping countries and in the local community requires resources and volunteers. After years of serving in numbers of projects to partner with people in different countries and in the local communities, Philip and Sara joined with a couple they met to form a 501(c) 3 nonprofit. This couple, Nancy and Randy Wiersma, are dedicated to service as well.

Knowing that the last thing needed was another large organization aimed to be a major fund raising entity, they formed this nonprofit to connect existing resources to communities where these resources could be used most efficiently. The goal of Together We Can, Inc (TWC) is not to become a large organization with paid staff but to work strictly as volunteers using all possible resources to serve the intended communities. TWC is in its early stages of development now and the immediate needs in Haiti will be its first major project. The organization will be based in Raleigh to facilitate more prompt reponses and decisions needed to serve where we are needed.

Together We Can, Inc Projects and Plans

Local
TWC, Inc. will be providing meals, clothing, transportation to doctors and other agencies as needed, and other such amenities to the homeless in downtown Raleigh. We will also be working with two agencies, the New Bern House which is part of Helping Hand Missions, Inc and the Salvation Army shelter, to assist in emergency housing for families, mostly women and children, by providing assistance with clothing, meals, and maintenance of the facility at the New Bern House. We anticipate providing mentoring to troubled teens at  Mark’s House, a community center operated by Helping Hand Mission.

International

TWC, Inc. may provide funds through Haiti Outreach Ministry for building basketball and volleyball courts in one of their community centers. This project will definitely be delayed due to the earthquake.   We will also likely be involved in supplying an inverter for Wings of Hope, an orphanage for mentally and handicapped children also in Haiti. We expect to be involved with projects at the St, Joseph’s Home for Boys in Haiti such as helping with supplying what is needed to build a wood working shop, upgrading their theater area, etc.  Again, these will be measurable projects that will have definite evidence of completion. Our outreach in Haiti will be specific projects that are part of already existing agencies supplying assistance mainly to children but not exclusively. With the recent destruction in Haiti, most of this part of our plans is developing daily.
